Blasius Ngome, The Star, Sun, Eden Newspapers emerged winners at Victoria Media Merit Awards

The Director of Communication, Public Relations and Translation at the National Oil Refining Company (SONARA), Blasius Ngome, The Star, The Sun and Eden Newspapers were winners of the 2019 Victoria Media Merit Awards dubbed VIMMA.

The awards were handed over to the beneficiaries on Saturday, March 23.

Ngome was rewarded for his enormous contributions as Director of Communication at SONARA, which have made his company one of the best in Corporate Communication in the past few years.

“I feel very good. I should say, extremely good because this is a great surprise to say that I, Blasius Ngome, has contributed that much in Corporate Communication for SONARA. You know, you work like in darkness, and there is somebody who is watching you and seeing the results,” Ngome said.

He thanked VIMMA for the award and asserted that “I don’t work to get awards, but to get results.”

VIMMA also recognised SONARA as Cameroon’s most vibrant company in terms of performance, quality of products and services.

Still, in the area of Corporate Communication, Massey Njiti Bongang, Communication Officer at MTN Cameroon and Edwin Eselem of Orange Cameroun were also recognised for their contributions in making their companies and the services they offer, better known to Cameroonians.

Meanwhile, VIMMA also recognised the enormous contributions of The Star, The Sun and Eden Newspapers, over the years in helping Cameroonians make sound and informed choices through their dedication to balance and unbiased news reporting.

The Chair and initiator of VIMMA, Tarhyang Tabe Enowbikah, who is Publisher of the Advocate Newspaper, was elated by the massive turnout.

Hilary Asong of Media Afrique Radio, Buea, won VIMMA Best Entertainer Award for 2019, while Adolf Tambe aka Big Mami Agatha was named VIMMA Best Comedian of 2019.

Solomon Agborem of The Star Newspaper was named pioneer winner of the Elah Geoffrey Journalism Award.

The new President of FECAFOOT Southwest Regional Bureau, Thomas Ndive Molungu, was named VIMMA 2019 Personality of the Year.

Ndive, who is the Attaché to the General Manager of the Douala Ports Authority, was recognised for his contribution to development, especially in football in Limbe and beyond.

He is the President of Victoria United, aka OPOPO.

In all, 25 awards recognising the contributions of the different winners to the development of Limbe and Cameroon as a whole in the fields of sports, tourism, culture, economy, construction, youth leadership and others were dished out.

VIMMA’s Chief Coordinator, Tarhyang Tabe Enowbikah, expressed immense thanks to all the winners, especially those who assisted in making the occasion a success such as Orange Cameroun, SONARA, the Limbe City Council among others.
